keyboard slackware

Hi all,

I am wondering about this:

# These are the default XKB settings for X.Org
#
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
# Option "XkbVariant" ""
# Option "XkbOptions" ""

This is ok, as my keyboard is us international.
The problem is this conf works only in init 1 or3.
As I go to init 4, most, nearly all keys are responding ok, exept ¨ and ´. Those are the outputs when I should have, as on keyboard, " and ' .
Running Slackware, init 4 = X11 with KDM/GDM/XDM (session managers).
Any idea?

Cheers

Where you see the entry Option "XkbLayout" "us", change the "us" to the 2 letter identifier for your country.

Hi all,

What I is need is really the us keyboard working, as my keyboard in a us intl one.
The only problem is that, even the configuration looks ok in xorg.conf, the key expected to give me the apostrophe and the double cote gives me those signs in place: ´ and ¨ .
After some investigations, I found this link : http://lists.ibiblio.org/pipermail/b...e/004282.html, were I discovered /usr/X11R6/bin/xmodmap -pke , which gives some nice informations about the keys on keyboard.
For example, in my case I found this line: keycode 48 = dead_acute dead_diaeresis apostrophe quotedbl apostrophe quotedbl .
As you can see, the right key is to be used for my needs. I investigated this time on my keyboard and found this strange combination to be done to get the apostrophe and the double cote: press alt(right not left) and the key to get an apostophe, alt(right not left), shift and the key to get double cote.
This the reversed of what is expected.
Any idea to fix this? I repeat that it is working the right way out of init 4.

Cheers
