Keyboard not responding during install!

I have been using Fedora for a month, and I'm tired of messing with stupid drivers, so I decided it's time to move to Slackware.

I originnally planned to just wipe my Fedora Partitions, and install Slackware over those (since I dual boot with Win XP).

Anyway, I got version 9.1 off of linuxiso.org, burnt it, and booted from it. I got passed the first screen, and it unpacked the installer. I ran into a problem when I got to the keyboard configuration, however. It asks what kind of keyboard I have, and if I have a US keyboard just press enter. I do have a US keyboard, but when I go to press enter, nothing happens, and the keyboard doesn't respond.

I have a logitech wireless keyboard, and I think the problem lies in the reciever. When I checked to make sure the signal indicator light was on, it turn out it wasn't. I tried connecting, but it NOTHING was responing at all. My keyboard works anywhere else. I haven't run into this problem before, except one time when I screwed up my modules.conf file in Fedora.:(

i had the exact same problem, it was solved by disabling legacy support in bios. it may not be what you`re looking for, but worth a shot...

do what Aldebaran said and try disabling Legacy USB support in your BIOs

What would disabling legacy support do? Does it effect anything in Windows? Is there a way I could recompile the kernal so that it would nativly support my keyboard after I get through the installation?:confused:

OK, I just went into my BIOS to try and disable legacy USB support, but I didn't see any options.

I know this may sound really newbish, but what is legacy support?

The only options in the bios I found that were related to USB were

what do I need to change? If I disable any of these, doesn't that mean I won't be able to use the Usb devices I have?

i`m sorry, but i cannot help you much there. i installed slack 9.1 on a laptop (not yet finished), and expirienced the same problem as you. i disabled legacy and the install went smooth after. i have tried win xp, with this disablement and everything seems to work just fine.
