keyboard doesnt work on vanilla slack 9 install

ok, got a fairly big problem here

its my second time installing slack, first time went famously, i was actually wondering how it got its reputation for hard install. just reinstalled it last night, and when i booted, my keyboard didnt work. so i figured, ok, must have messed it up. so i tried again, reading the options more carefully and so on, and same problem. 3 third try i attempted to replicate what i did the first time i installed it, still have the exact same problem.

does anyone know what i could be doing wrong here? i mean, ive installed linux more times then i can count, and had a plethora of problems, but keyboard not working in the command line interface has never been one of them.

please, i need help on this. i really like slack, and dont want to be forced to return to mandrake!

Dunno what you mean by "doesn't work".

Just a simple check - have you checked the physical connection. I was installing Slack on an old machine yesterday, when the screen suddenly refused to co-operate - after 3 reboots, I checked, and sure enough the cable had dislodged!

lol, sorry, ill be more precise. it is totally and completely non functional, even the leds dont light up when you hit caps lock, num lock, etc.. and the connection is fine, tried reinstalling three times and all three times the keyboard worked in the installer.

lol, i had a similar problem, all of a sudden my nic stopped working, after a few hours of diagnostics i realised the ethernet cable wasnt fully plugged in.
