Kernel Upgrading Problems

I'm currently running a 2.4.26 kernel (one of the precompiled ones included in slack 10) and everything works fine, except for my wifi card. apparently, this could be solved by upgrading to a newer kernel. The thing is everytime I try to upgrade my kernel, though it boots fine, everyting that used to work fine with the previous kernel doesn't work anymore. First time this happened I thought I could've fucked up the compilation process (specially while selecting the different attributes to be compiled). This was with kernel 2.6.10
So when Slack 10.1 was released I downloaded one of the precompiled 2.4.29 kernels
and tried again. Once again, many errors poped up during booting time. Among other things, such as services or files not found, the adsl doesn't connect, the printer doesn't gets loaded, neither does the scanner.
Any ideas, explanations for this weird behavior?

Well, a list of the specific errors might help us. Also, did you follow the 2.4.X->2.6.X upgrade guide available online? You might be trying to use modules and have an outdated version of all the module tools.

Could you please tell where can I find that guide?

Not sure if this is the guide Matir was referring to but there is a great guide located at:

Very interesting....

Seems his web server must not like my link for some reason :(

I was able to just refresh the page and get it to work; or you could just copy and past the URL.
