Kernel Panic In Slack!!!

Is there any other way or technique to avoid kernel panic when updating a kernel or building it?

My distro is slackware. In make menuconfig i have so many doubts and trials but i can't succeed. I install it all over again but usually it panics. Is there any way or give me some techniques please..:-) thanks..
