i just download the new slackware 10.2 and iam using a new hd 80g sata and i used test26.s. it seem that the installation finished without any problem... then went i try to boot it say kernel panic and it hang can any one help me pls..thk in adv

You need to boot using the CD-ROM and then install the packages in the linux-2.6.13 directory on disk 2 -- those don't get installed when you install test26.s and what you're seeing is things trying to load that just are not there.
You need to boot to /dev/sda (assuming that's your drive) then eject disk 1, mount disk 2 and using installpkg to install all the *.tgz package files in linux-2.6.13.
Make sure /etc/lilo.conf is pointing to the right places and execute lilo...
The test26.s kernel includes SATA support. If you were able to boot the installation using test26.s, and you chose test26.s at the end of the installation, everything should be fine. You don't need an initrd. Just install the 2.6 modules and life should be good.
Are you sure you chose the test26.s kernel at the end of the installation?
