kernel confusions?

i have installed slakware 8. it comes with 2 kernels
2.2-19 and 2.4-5
but boots with the 2.2-19. where is 2.4-5 , i selected to install it
its modules are there in /lib/modules.
how can we add the other kernel in lilo?

i compiled the other kernel 2.4-5 from source and added in lilo.conf
but it said that too big kernel? what is the logic of this, i mean what size of kernel is allowed in slack?

You may heve as much kernels as you wish. Do you boot from a floppy? If yes, I think you need to use a boot disk and use only one kernel for a bootdisk.
Search for 2.4.5 kernel where you have your other ones. There should be 3 'vmlinuz*' files (2.2.x kernel and two 2.4.x). If you can't find it I think it's just not installed.

i am not booting from floppy , the lilo is on boot sector.
and there is only one file whose name is only "vmlinuz".
but i have installed both.

Search for names beggining with vmlinuz, there migh be kernel version added at the end, for example.
