kernel configure
I know that some distros like Gentoo have a tool that can configure the new kernel on the machine it is running. Is there something like that on Slackware and where can I find it?
Thanks!

lol, yeah i think he just means the configuration before a compile. I dont know much about gentoo but from what i can tell everything is compiled from source on the install so this would include the kernel, and thus you would have to run menuconfig or some such at some point during the install.

make menuconfig in the console. make xconfig in kde. make gconfig in gnome/fluxbox/any gui that supports gtk. They all are decent in allowing you to set stuff. However I use menuconfig because I never play with my kernel inside of x.

as far as I know gentoo builds a configuration file for the kernel exactly with the setup your system needs.
