kernel compiled. starts up. no modules, and etc.

Ok, I just compiled my second successful kernel, but with problems like before. I downloaded the kernel 2.6.11 for my Slacktop (Slack 10). After I compiled it, it starts with errors regarding the modules.conf, saying it could not use any of them. (it first adi, then I added my orinoco card modules a couple others.. still a no go) It can find the pcmcia (module? It doesn't show up in lsmod) but it can't find any cards. I can get to the start up screen, and login, but xterm (or 'any'term for that matter) don't start up... period. Other programs do, strangely. I can go to a virtual terminal (ctrl + alt + f6) though, and do stuff there, but I just don't know what to do... can someone help me? I compiled the kernel with PCI, ISA support, and many other things that I know I don't need since there not even on my laptop. If there is some way to send my config (for compiling the kernel to read off of) so you can take a look at what I configured into it, would be great, so someone can read it. I'm sure it isn't a whole lot, really. I can't think of anything else to say right now, until then this is what I got. Thanx in advance.

did you do make modules; make modules_install when you compiled it?

If not try that after you do make

Also remember that if you choose some stuff to be "buit-in" into the kernel instead of modules, they can't be loaded or listed in lsmod, they're just inside your kernel :)

o. I didn't know that. And yes I did make modules and make modules_install. I'll do it right away.
