kernel 2.6.22 on Slackware not working after installation of Debian 4.0

Hi!
I recently compiled kernel 2.6.22 on Slackware 11.0 installation on my Acer Aspire 5100 laptop.

I was having some kernel panic problems when I tried to boot into it, which evaporated when I enabled SATA support in the new kernel. I was able to work in this new kernel until I installed Debian on a separate partition overwriting the lilo of Slackware with Debian's Grub.

Now when I try to boot into Slackware kernel 2.6.22 I get Kernel panic error. But if I try to boot into Slackware with kernel 2.6.17, I am able to boot in without any problem.

As a drastic measure I copied the config file from /boot/ of Debian (kernel 2.6.22 again)into Slackware and loaded it from xconfig and compiled the kernel once more. Still I am getting the same error.

Here is the relevant portion of menu.lst

Quote:
title Slackware Linux 2.6.22 (Slackware 11.0.0) (on /dev/sda2)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22 root=/dev/sda2
savedefault
boot
Any suggestions?

Thanking in advance,

S**t, I knew I forgot something! I'll try this command, please correct me if I am wrong -
Quote:
#cd /boot/
#mkinitrd -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.22 2.6.22
