Kernel 2.4.31 question

What are the benefits of this older kernel? Ive been using it now since 10.1 and Im very happy with it, tho I wonder if I ought to compile a 2.6 build at some point. Is there any GOOD reason to do so?

The benefits are that it's known, stable and proven. The main reason to move to 2.6 would be that you need hardware support that you can't get with your current version. If you've got a stable system with everything running as it should - be happy

I'm ignoring security patches here because I haven't kept up with whether the security patches are still going into the 2.4 series.
