keeping printer on at bootup keeps printer from printing (some printer modules loaded

ya, got my psc 2110xi working well, printing, scanning and all (printing through cups with hpij driver, scanning through hpoj driver)

if i turn on my printer before i boot up slackware, the bootup installs some different drivers before cups can load
it tell me that usbci.c has something about new device found and that there are no active drivers for it, so i then see the line printer.c (which seems to be a printer driver conflicting with cups)

i go into gnome, printing just doesn't come out of the printer, although a success is reported in cups

i disable printer.c in my /etc/hotplug/blacklist, but i still get the message about new device found, and then i go into cups and it tells me that /dev/usb/lp0 does not exist (this is where my printer is)

i could disable usbci.c, but wouldn't that just screw up hotplug and probably not help my printer anyway?

the only solution is to remove printer from blacklist and turn on without the printer on (not a problem, but it is for the other members of my family)

how do i solve this

*note: this post turned out longer than it needed to be

also, how do i run the command ptal-init start at bootup automatically? (this is what starts the scanning interface and all)

i alterred rc.hotplug and changed all the *.rc to pci.rc
