Keeping boxes in sync with updates and patches

I've been updating software packages on one of my pewters to get to get current with 10.2 so when 11.0 is available I will have less to update. While updating the box, I began to realize that keeping multiple boxes in sync with the current packages is a challenge.

Thus I am asking you experienced folks here, how do you keep your boxes in sync? Whether a small home network, computer labs, or a large business WAN/LAN, how do you keep Slack boxes (or any 'PC GNU/Linux) boxes in sync? What strategies do you use to automate this process?

Comments and ideas welcomed, as well as any and all links too. Especially if unique to Slackware.

Thanks.

using programs like swaret and the other apt get like package tools in addition to cron job

you could use cron job from one system have it get necessary updated packages might be able to setup the apt get clone to check the system for updated programs and upgrade to them. may take some programming

Helper tools like slackpkg, slapt-get, swaret, slackupdate or the simplest known method - rsync && upgradepkg combo - suited to run as a cron job.
