Theres a bug in KDM somewhere. I had to edit

/etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc

and add the line:
UseTheme=true

in the

[X-*-Greeter]

section.

You can also set the theme manually there.

Beautiful, works like a charm.

Now to figure out making my own themes...

There is nothing wrong with my package. I have it installed on Slackware 11.0 12.0 and -current machines and never had to edit texst files manually. The changes mentioned earlier are all taken care of if you add the check for "Enable KDM Themes" in the "KDE Control Center > KDE Theme Manager" applet which you will find added after you've installed the kdmtheme package.

Man ... you must really think we are all idiots!!

No offense, but at least on my side, I am sure that I checked the enable button and then pressed apply , then changed the themes. It didn't work.

Then I added the UseTheme=true manually, and then tried to change the theme again using that same KDMThemeManager .. didn't work.

Then undoed all the changes , removed your package , installed the new one .. and it worked like a charm. Maybe it works for you ... it didn't for me ... and by what it seems like .. neither for a few more.
