Kdewallet keeps asking for password for wireless network with networkmanager in 14.1
 

Hello all,
I activated yesterday network manager in order to configure a mobile internet connection (3g). The connection was succesfull. In addition, network manager scanned all wireless networks I could access and I tried to connect to my own. But kdewallet kept asking for the password every few seconds (not only its own password that I gave the first time but also the WPA). The result was that no wireless access could be established so I had to deactivate network manager.
How can one disable kdewallet when network manager is started?

update:
i disabled kwallet daemon but it seems I can not have NetworkManager to start my wireless connection. It says that it is waiting authentication but there is nowhere a place to provide the wpa key. As I understand, network manager will only talk to kwallet to get the wpa key so by disabling it there is no way to provide that information, or is it? Has anyone come accross the same situation?
For the time being I connect to wireless network without using NetworkManager (and kwallet obviously) and to mobile by activating both processes.

I know this isn't a positive contribution, but I hate those stupid wallet things that desktops try to force on you. They are annoying and obnoxious nagware. They should be off by default, with an option to turn them on if you want them. Having them on by default is intrusive and presumptuous.

I have a perfectly good password vault of my own choosing, thank you.

well the problem is that for a reason I can not figure out it seems that network manager is tightly coupled with the kwallet and by disabling it, network manager can not function properly (or at least I can not make it function properly).

Perhaps the "Don't Bug Me" work-around that Ted Ts'o describes in the following post would be an acceptable solution for your situation.

Kwallet is a good tool that I don't like or use. You must deactivate it on the next page after the one you did to get rid of it.
Left clock on the icon in the panel, look for your AP and click connect then it will prompt for a password, go ahead and give it and surf. There are times you have to do this more than once for it to connect automatically.

As per the "don't bug me" workaround, since I am not familiar yet with the polkit and all these stuff I hesitate to deactivate it as it was suggested on the provided site, at least until I 'll learn more about it (any good reference/tutorial?)

I did as zrdc28 suggested, deactivating kwallet, and indeed when I chose my wireless ssid it prompted for a password and... kept prompting for ever! No access though...so I just killed NetworkManager process, started wlan interface and the connection established with the good old wpa_supplicant configuration.

So my workaround is that whenever I want to use mobile internet I just start network manager and when I want to switch back to wireless I just kill the process of network manager.

If only I could do both in a consistent manner (using for example for both connections network manager...). Anyway this is not a big deal. Is there any logs where I can have a look for the network manager?

came across this issue myself with Slackware64-Current

try entering the wireless connection widget,
there in "wireless security" you will be able to enter the password directly.

as there is not password there, networkmanager ask for the help of kWallet
