Kde widget browser.

Hello, i did a fresh full install of Slackware 14 the other day. I would like to install some extra widgets on kde. Slackware's up to date (stable tree), While connected to the internet, and widgets unlocked: i right click the desktop, select add widgets, in the new popup select 'get new widgets', then select download new plasma widgets.
This is how i have normally added widgets in the past on kde. On this install however, when i do this, the "kde widget explorer window that pops up which normally displays all the widgets i can download, is blank, and the message 'Loading data' just continues to display.

Anyone else having this issue, or have i done something wrong?
