KDE upgrade...
While researching an answer I just recently received, I noticed KDE 3.5.5 is released... (I know... I know... I am way behind...) I am currently running 3.4.2 (Or so the helpfiles say...) Under Slackware 10.2 with kernel 2.4.31.... Is it worth the trouble to upgrade...? The only way I know how to do this is download the source, un-tar it, and then the standard configure, make, make install... However, I feel that it is not so simple with something as large as KDE.... (I am remembering my first experiences wit Linux before I lacked the time for computers for a few years and compiling kernels and such to upgrade them, and having many headaches from that.... But that was with kernel versions 1.0.8 and such.....) Anyway, the bottom question is, is it worth the time? and if so, should I try the binary executable download (I have never had any luck with binary packages before, such as RPM files, etc.) or compile it...? Pardon my ignorance, and thanks for your time. =)
