KDE System icon

How do you get a system icon on the desktop to show up in KDE? You know, like "My computer" in windows, or System in GNOME. I am running KDE3.2.3

Open konqueror and type the following in the URL box:

system:/

If you get some system icons (and not an error message), then the protocol is registered and you can simply create a link to a URL on the desktop that points to system:/

I do not remember if this was a registered protocol in the version of KDE you are using but perhaps not. It is in 3.4.2 which is what all my distros use presently, else I would check for you.
