KDE settings lost after log out

Hi everyone:

Everytime I log into KDE my settings are changed. Either it is the icon size, icon positioning, mouse settings, etc. My bookmarks even disappeared in Firefox.. It is very annoying and I don't have the slightest clue what is causing this. Any insight you might have would be greaT!

I am running Slackware 10.0, with hardly any modifications after the install.

I know this is a vague description of my problem, but I dont' know what more to say..

Cheers.

What is the output for :
find ~/.kde -uid 0
(do it as your regular user, not root)

If you change the desktop background (right click on it > dektop parameters or similar), it stays the same if you exit and log on kde ?

Settings do save, but at random times KDE would insist to revert back to its default settings without my consent.
