KDE Reloading

UPDATE:

I have solved this problem, by reading a little more thank you to all who have had a look. I did not realize that I was not finished with the setup process.

Hi all,

I am fairly new to Linux. I am utilizing the power of Linux through .

My system is as follows:

IBM ThinkPad T 23

PIII processer

1GB RAM

120 Gig HDD

Windows XP Professional (sp2)

I use VirtualBox aa my VM I have slack. installed on this.

While in slack I have two problems

1. no internet. I have a NetGear wireless card which works fine in Fedora 8

2.When I click on terminal emulator KDE resets and asks me to login.

ANY assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Archiphile

If you run "lspci -v" (without the quotes) it will tell you what wireless chipset your wireless card uses. It should be near the end of the output. Then run "lsmod" to list the drivers that are loaded for your hardware. If you compare the output of lsmod in Slackware to the output of lsmod in Fedora (since your wireless is working in Fedora) this should let you know if the driver for your wireless is being loaded on Slackware. Post the output of "lspci -v" and "lsmod" in Slackware here, and someone should be able to help you get the wireless setup.
Also "ifconfig" will tell you what internet connections are running. Post the output of that also.
You can also google your wireless card chipset for linux compatibility, or search for the brand and chipset of the card here for linux compatibility:
