This is not the dmesg output, only a bit of it. You can open in KWrite the file /var/log/dmesg or you can do "dmesg > dmesg.txt" then to open the file in an editor like KWrite, select all and paste here.

Here. You already broken the Mesa by removing the LLVM package. Until you don't install it back, nothing useful would be there.

There are 2 things:

WHY there is no i915 kernel module logs in the dmesg output? My dmesg output have
Code:
root@darkstar:~# dmesg | grep i915
[ 13.376639] i915 0000:00:02.0: vgaarb: deactivate vga console
[ 13.377765] i915 0000:00:02.0: vgaarb: changed VGA decodes: olddecodes=io+mem,decodes=io+mem:owns=io+mem
[ 13.511812] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] Initialized overlay support.
[ 13.512187] [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20201103 for 0000:00:02.0 on minor 0
[ 13.592754] fbcon: i915drmfb (fb0) is primary device
[ 13.628269] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] Setting output timings on SDVOB failed
[ 13.754689] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] fb0: i915drmfb frame buffer device
root@darkstar:~#
So, what you did to the i915 kernel module? It's blacklisted or what?

Secondly, where's your libLLVMX86Disassembler.so.14 ? Theoretically, it should be in the LLVM package.

Man, I'm not interested what inxi says. I've already found 2 issues, one in the kernel log, another in X.org log.

Please respond at them and fix them, to step forward.

LATER: OK, you installed back the LLVM. What happened to i915 driver from kernel?

The whole point of what I've been posting is simply to show
that KDE plasma 5 _will indeed_ fire-up and run on this hardware.

Nobody said otherwise. But seems that we have a very different understanding regarding the term "usability"

Running Plasma5 in a system using software rendering on an old Core2 Duo is not exactly what I understand by "usability"

So, you want to tell me what you did with the kernel module named "i915" ? Seems like it's blacklisted or you use "nomodeset"

On all of my machines that have intel graphics chips, upon loading the i915 kernel module
my resolution gets kicked-back from 1280x1024 down to 1024x768

To fix that and remain at 1280x1024, every time my kernel & modules get updated, I delete the i915 module like so...

rm -r /lib/modules/*.*.*/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i915

OK then by this.... "my pc is a Intel G-33/31 with a quad core and 8GB ram yet can not run KDE5."

Did you simply mean that it runs but does not have the "usability" which you desire ?

There are another ways to fix this monitor resolution issue. Ways much better than removing kernel modules.

And there is the explanation WHY it's used the LLVMpipe instead of the proper 3D driver stack.

And, excuse me, I understand that you have multiple computers, then you have also multiple monitors? So, those monitors are identical?

And I have another question: what you do with Windows 11? It works at the native resolution of 1280x1024 ?

You describe the computer of @linuxdaddy and I do not exclude that a computer like this exists.

I for one I have quad cores, but no one is stuck on Mesa i915 driver and OpenGL 1.4.

Exactly. Because I have a garage full of computers of various types and I know exactly how Plasma5 should behave, when it behaves decently.

Even this HP Compaq dc7800 USDT is one of my computers assigned for experiments. As main computer(s) I use something else.

Yep, that's my hobby. I play with Linux in my garage. When I have time for this.

KDE Plasma 5 (stock full install of Slackware 15) works well enough on my Athlon II X2 250. I even use this system as my surveillance system. I keep the 'camera' on at all times so that if the driveway alarm chimes, we can just look over at the monitor and see what set it off. I also have the same readout as glennmcc's post in which he used
Code:
glxinfo
originally and my system works fine. Yes, it is a little slow with some things, but not so bad that I want to spend more money to get newer stuff. I did spend a little on a new Kingston 500GB SSD...that made a world of difference in boot time!

Yes as said on here,

The regular Intel driver is at 1.4 gl, the newer workaround has to many issues to be used daily for me.
I won't run a desktop on llvm, it's to slow. If I open a program and move it on the screen, it flickers, and can
see it getting redrawn.

So, I'm setting up a clean, default install on it. Slack 15.0 - full install, then update it. I'm still putting it
back together with new compound on the coolers. Been a bit busy lately to do all of this yet.

I don't know how I missed this thread before but I do have a comment that may help since I run 3 machines with Slackware 15, KDE Plasma 5 and Core 2 CPUs or older.

1) Lenovo Thinkpad T61P (with community bios upgrade) and Nvidia Quadro M Series GPU

2) UperMicro C2SEA with Core 2 Duo Extreme and Nvidia GT 640

3) Asus A8-NE with AMD FX-57 and Nvidia GT 640

All run very well with no problems and though I've never had cause to figure out the cause, as per Lucky Cyborg's notes about Mesa and Gallium, it could be because installing with the NVIDIA-foo.run installer causes conflicting Mesa files to be replaced with ones specific to the GPU. Both AMD and Intel seem to be working hard to catch up but still nvidia is the king for Linux. It likely helps that they've been supporting Linux with dedicated developers since ~1998. Everyone else was late to the game.
