KDE error when running startx
I just installed slack current without KDE or X and am trying to get KDE going. I downloaded the slack packaged for arts, lib and base and installed them in that order. I get this error when I run startx:
"Could not start kstartup config" Check your installation.
and Error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: cannot open object file, no such file or directory.
anyone have an idea how to fix this?
I have uninstaled and reinstalled using pkgtool 4 times already with the same result.
I also get an error in Xorg.0.log about not being able to connct to inet6.

"4.4. Prerequisites"
"4.5. Description of the base packages"
http://docs.kde.org/development/en/k...html#id2546854
This references the older 3.4 version, but you'll get an idea of what packages are required and optional.

I found this, might be what's causing your problem:
"14.3. I can not login to KDE 3.5 as root and get the error message "Could not start kstartupconfig. Check your installation.
" In KDE 3.5 there is a bug in kstartupconfig, which prevents root to login. Although it's not recommended to login as root to KDE, you can do the following workaround: Copy the files startupconfig and startupconfigfiles into /root/.kde35/share/config/."
http://ait.web.psi.ch/services/linux_new/faq/#KDE2
After you installed QT did you either reboot or issue command 'ldconfig' as root? This will update the shared library links cache, as what is done in /etc/rc.d/rc.M script.
# ldconfig
# ldconfig -p | grep libqt-mt.so.3
(NOTE: if found will display)
libqt-mt.so.3 (libc6) => /usr/lib/qt/lib/libqt-mt.so.3
