Kde 3.2 style oddness...

Soon after the 3.2 upgrade I made note of my fav. style plastik had just stopped working...
The window decoration (plastik) still works and so does the colour set...
When I went to change it back... it was gone... KDE 3.2 has this stlye built-in but it was not there...
I love this style sooo much that I did a fresh install of KDE 3.2... and it is still not there...
Then I trashed my .kde file..... still no dice...

What the hell?

Update...

Ok this is odd too...

I thought that if I compile the style from source then all will be good...

So I downloaded the source but on the configure I got a error telling me that I need kdelibs before I can continue...

I do have it... but just to make sure I reinstalled the kdelibs package and tried again... but the same error came up....

All I want is the plastik style...

What source package did you use ? I tried to install KDE 3.2 source files into a SuSE box and it installed into /usr/share and usr/lib whach really screwed SuSE up. I had used a rpm for the arts and when I tried to install the kdelibs I got a error that arts was not installed and the prefix was /usr/share. SuSE keeps all KDE files in /opt/kde3. You might have to use a prefix directory location when compiling. I haven't tried slackware yet but the source packages I had for SuSE installed with no problems in Fedora. Check where your kde3 files are and check where the source is trying to install to.

I used the packages from linuxpackages... Alll were built for slackware...
I checked the paths and they all check out...

Donno what to do....

Ok well I have taken a close look and this is what I have found...

The Styles are installed in their respective directory... but kde does not see them. KDE only sees the standard styles... Like CDE and Motif.

So I will try another install of kdebase and see what that does...

no luck...

common anybody?

can't help you...yet. I am going to swaret kde 3.2 tonight. I am also a Platik user and will not be comfortable without it.

I will post back tomorrow when I have completed the upgrade. Meanwhile, if you find any resolution to the problem I will be interested.

I just swaret(ed) KDE 3.2 and have no problems with my themes including Plastick. Sorry that this is no benefit to you, but others may wonder how the swaret packages are working.

slackMeUp 02-11-2004 01:32 PM

Well I just installed a package of another theme and it works fine...

So does anybody have a tgz package of Plasitk ready to go for slackware and kde 3.2... or 3.1.
