KDE 2.3.2 won't boot up
 
Hi- I successfully installed Slackware 10.0 and selected KDE as my desktop. Everything is wonderful. So I was pokin' around to see what's what and I started the signature api.

I figured I should probably know a tad more than I do before I signed anything and selected 'quit or exit or...'. The api froze. I waited. I waited some more. The entire system was stuck so I hit the dreaded RESET button.

After reboot I STARTXd, ran KDE and the splash screen came up and ran to about 40%, specifically the 4, on the progress bar, and there she sat. And sat and sat. So I RESET again.

Reboot. From the console I reinstalled KDE. Rebooted. STARTXd and same result.

Reboot. From the console I formatted the root partition & reinstalled Slackware 10.0. Rebooted. STARTXed and it worked. But something came up and I shutdoen. On restart KDE gave me the failure.

Gnome 2.6 comes up as do all the other windows managers but no KDE.

My main concern is not so much KDE, but to get on the internet and KDE looks like the only way on.

All assistance is appreciated. This is not critical but important.

You can get online from any desktop manager (XFCE, KDE, Gnome, Blackbox, Fluxbox, etc).
Why are you running KDE 2.3.2? KDE 3.5 is the newest and probably the best choice right now.

KDE 2.3.2 came with Slack 10.0

I cannot, and I have tried to figure this out, start a ppp session from any other desktop but KDE and my newbieness slaps me up side the head every time I try.

Please give me a hint on how to do ppp from other desktops.

I'm such a newbie I still squeak.

Any direction on fixin' KDE?

Try running kppp from another window manager
