K3B is requesting dual layer DVD, can't use DVD+R

Running the following:

-Slackware 11.0
-K3b 0.12.17
-DVD burner is SONY DVD RW DRU-810A

Was trying to back up data today and I used to be able to burn straight to DVD+R, but when I tried burning today I got the following message:

Found media:  DVD+R (appendable) 

Please insert an empty Double Layer DVD+_R medium 
into drive 

SONY DVD RW DRU-810A (/dev/hdc)

Is there anyway I can change the settings for K3b that will allow me
to burn to whatever DVD I would like to?

The "appendable" makes it sound like it doesn't think your disk is blank. Have tried just using a different disk?

Your right, it was a bad disk.
