Unhappy k3b flaking out on DVD burn on slack 10.1

Anyone know why k3b would complain about not finding any media when burning a dvd? I can burn cd's just fine....

Do you need cdrecord.ProDVD? I have the ide-scsi module in, sr_mod, etc. All seems fine except for burning dvd's.

I'm running a pretty stock 10.1 install, rebuilt the kernel, AFAIK everything is right. Like I said, I can burn regular cd's just fine. Output of ide-scsi:

scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices
Vendor: LITE-ON Model: DVDRW SOHW-1693S Rev: KS04
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02

Here's what I believe to be the relevant error output from k3b:

growisofs
-----------------------
Executing 'builtin_dd if=/var/home/software/iso/mail.iso of=/dev/sr0 obs=32k seek=0'
/dev/sr0: "Current Write Speed" is 4.1x1385KBps.

:-[ WRITE@LBA=0h failed with SK=2h/ASC=04h/ACQ=01h]: No medium found
:-( write failed: No medium found

I built the latest dvd+rw-tools(dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8) from source, as well as k3b itself.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I had this hapen to me a couple of times with a dvd writer.
First time, I was using the wrong type of media for the drive, it needed dvd-r. not dvd+r.
(or visa versa, I can't remember which).

Second time I had this problem, the drive failed! I replaced the drive.

Good luck. -CD-

Tried both types

No dice. This is weird. xcdroast with cdrecord-prodvd is complaining that I have an invalid key most likely even though I'm sure it's the right one.

Any other software good for burning dvd's in slack?
