I searched and found a couple previous threads on problems with k3b and kde4 and found a thread saying all that is needed is the k3b-compat from /extra but I've installed those and k3b still has issues. I'm running the 4.3.1 packages from vbatt posted in an earlier thread. K3b will ruun to 93% complete then eject and inject the CD to finalize then hang there. If I kill k3b I can read the cd through the burned still but not anything else so its writng the data just never finalizing.
I'm making a copy of an audio cd for testing, have two kids who know how to put cd's in the player but scratch them up doing so so I make backup copies for use and put the originals away safe.
Same here. I also posted about this. Although I haven't tried out this solution but many users here have suggested to remove the k3b package of kde4 and then install the kde3 version from /extra. Also install all kde3-compat packages. I have been using arch for a while now so I didn't get the chance to try out this solution but I hope it works for you.
Good Luck
EDIT: Btw, did k3b work for you in kde4.2.4? Did you check? I don't think it's vbatts packages that's causing the problem.

True. First remove the default k3b that comes with slack and then install all the packages from /extra/kde3-compat.
I followed this method and burned a few dvd's with k3b 1.0.5 and they have all been successful.
I just did an pkginstall *.txz from /extra/kde3-compat would that overwrite the package that installs from the original slackware install or not? I think I never tried with KDE4.2, burned the 13DVD with kde3, did the upgrade then found the 4.3.1 packages shortly afterward and upgraded.
That was it, There were two k3b packages installed and I couldn't recall which came from where so I removed them both then installed the compat one. Thanks
