how can I get xorg

to automatically open after I boot withut having to type startx or is that possible. Also I have a road runner ethernet connection if I type in netconfig will I be able to enable the ethernet port on my motherboard for internet access????

If you want to start X on boot, edit your /etc/inittab and change the default run level from 3 to 4.

As far as your network, netconfig would be a place to start.

Im sorry but what is the root command to open /etc/inittab ?

It should be edited with... an editor. You probably have KWrite or GEdit. Run either of these as root from the terminal. The command should then be something like
