July 15 update: Failed to load DRI3

After latest current update, on a full current installation with i915 graphics, I get the following in Xorg.0.log:
Code:
]$ grep -i dri3 /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Initializing built-in extension DRI3
 (II) Loading sub module "dri3"
 (II) LoadModule: "dri3"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module dri3
 (II) UnloadModule: "dri3"
 (II) Unloading dri3
(EE) intel: Failed to load module "dri3" (module does not exist, 0)
and the following errors:
Code:
(EE) Failed to load module "fbdev" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) intel: Failed to load module "dri3" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) intel: Failed to load module "present" (module does not exist, 0)
AFAIK the fbdev error is normal, not sure about the 'present' module.

X starts up without problems, but I assume something is not right, right?

Did you run slackpkg install-new ?

Looks like there is dri3proto missing or something related.

yes, all new packages are installed, including dri3proto:
Code:
$ find /var/log/packages/ -name dri*
/var/log/packages/dri2proto-2.8-x86_64-1
/var/log/packages/dri3proto-1.0-x86_64-1

dri3proto package just contains header files to compile against DRI3. It seems your intel video driver was not compiled against dri3; or the driver does not support it yet (but xorg tries to load it).

Unless you switched from mesa to swrast, I would say it's ok (glxinfo | grep OpenGL to check it)

According to the -current changelog, xf86-video-intel was changed to 2.99 on July 16th. Have you tried updating that?

Yes, I already updated to the latest current intel driver.

@gengisdave: hardware rendering with mesa works fine.

I have the same "problem" with intel driver. Maybe it is irrelevant but google gave me this thread that mentions dri3 code being buggy and has some patches for making DRI3 work. I haven't tested the patches because besides the above message in xorg.log, everything works ok.
