Java compiler works correctly, but it's jre part not. The problem is how it is shown by the browser. If I see applet correctly, is dependant on where a file is placed. Most problems arise when I place file on a usb drive.


EDIT: I think installation is not a part of my problem, because I do not have any problems with applets from the web. I am almost sure I installed Slackware package.

No, not really. It would be too simple. It works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. In USB it doesn't work at all with opera, but usually works with konq. Now I'm frustrated with it cause been trying to fix it whole day. It even doesn't behave the same way with two applets from the Desktop (where the other one is the copy of first), while konq shows normally (there are some places where konq doesn't (URI error), but I've already fixed this (solution was not to use kde media).

Simple apps works as they should, never had any problems with these. Now I need to port some of them into the web.

Well, if you're developing web programs using java, knoqueror and opera and not the two browsers I would pick.

But using firefox or even IE (if you pick this) doesn't solve the problem. I just need them (applets) work even I have never liked them.

I don't really know. I mean if you installed it correctly it should work. But, I never (or very rarely) use konqueror and opera. I know that java works fine in FF, never had a problem with it. Especially as you say that it sometimes works sometimes doesn't.

Hmmm ... maybe try the latest jre from the official java site ?

P.S. I hate IE, but let's face it ... 99.999 % of all users use it (or what is it now, 99.998 % ?)

Why don't you try and use JRE/JDK 6? They don't need a package .... just a folder .. you can put it in /opt/jre and /opt/jdk .. and then add their respective bins to your PATH. Btw, could you show us your PATH (echo $PATH in bash)
