Question Java 6 <18 security alert

Hi,

I saw this alert a few weeks ago.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/dep...pumar2010.html

It seems slack 13.0 and 12.2 are affected, aren't they ?

I read some stuff about a month back on bugtraq regarding java deployment toolkit and javaws that looked like it might be a concern. Not sure what the other 26 security fixes are that oracle refer to, but the fact that there are 27 of them at all is a bad sign.

Personally, I now view Java in much the same light as flashplayer. i.e. too big a risk to be worth having installed. Unless you need it for something, I'd take it off and leave it off.

Try using the demo exploit link in that article and see how far you go.

My testing only gets a blank page, I'm sure something is supposed to be loaded by it.

Yes, that's the one I saw on bugtraq.

I see there's a u20 update this morning in the changelog.
