Whenever I plug my 8gb pendrive, it takes too long accessing it. For instance, if I want to delete something, it takes a while until it is finally deleted.
Is there a way to improve accessing time to this device?
Do any R/W errors show up in syslog? You could probably speed up operations by reformatting the device to a Unix FS, but I assume you probably want to keep Windows compatibility with it.
Are you having issues with reading/writing performance? Are you deleting the file or moving to trash? If you move a file to trash it will take much longer then just deleting it.
You were right symetic! I haven't noticed that moving to trash wasn't the same that deleting (in terms of time). Maybe because when one right clicks doesn't have the option to delete (it says move to trash and to its right it says delete and that is a bit confusing). But to delete I have to Shift-delete.
It was a question with an easy answer. Sorry for that!
You can enable a full "Delete" option (shift+delete) in the context menu by going to K-menu -> Control Centre -> KDE Components -> File Manager. Then select the Behaviour tab, and tick the box for "Show Delete context menu entries which bypass the wastebin".
Obviously, use this option with care; it is the equivalent to rm, which is pretty unforgiving!
