Issues installing steam "failed to load driver: swrast"

Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(0)
libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
This is the error I'm getting. I'm currently running the latest nvidia driver for my 760 and after some research I believe that might be part of the problem. Either way though I need some help here

Hi:

Slackware package management doesn't use dpkg so I don't get why you are getting this message. In fact I find it a tad bizarre.

Code:

Couldn't find dpkg, please update steamdeps for your distribution.

I'm not good with nvidia sorry. IF I'm not mistaken you may have to blacklist nouveau but I'm not 100% sure.
-:::-You will need a member that's good with nvidia.-:::-

nVIDIA Driver Installation and Configuration
https://docs.slackware.com/howtos:ha...aphics_drivers

Drivers are listed under lsmod:-

I've learned from other men here at LQ that:
If more than one driver is installed the wrong driver could be loading first, which causes the device not to work.

You can ignore the debian-based error since it was just seeking a means to auto-correct for you. Since you are not using a .deb-based distro you must use an analog in order to solve the Mesa libs issue that is evident from the "swrast" failure. There is more than one way to do that so please tell how you installed the nidiia driver - by the nvidia.run script or through a slackpackage?

Sorry for the late reply, I installed it with the nvidia.run script. It should be noted that I have not explicitly checked to see if I have any Mesa stuff installed.

The nvidia.run installer asks you if you want 32 bit libraries installed. You did say yes, didn't you?

I honestly don't recall. I'll just reinstall the drivers and try again.

this is why i use docker for steam, no need to install 32bit binaries :)

Isn't that just a substitute? I mean one has to create a 32bit docker image, right?
