If you have a version of VLC that can not play youtube videos then you probably did not downloaded my VLC package? See http://taper.alienbase.nl/mirrors/pe...ackbuilds/vlc/

To watch/stream it (as Alien Bob pointed out) or download?

If you want to download youtube videos:
http://www.google.com.my/search?q=do...youtube+videos

I've used keepvid in the past: http://keepvid.com/

I thought I actually did download your packages Eric.
I got them from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-slackware.html, and followed the instructions from http://wiki.videolan.org/Slackware.

when i got to
Code:
sh vlc.SlackBuild
i instead ran
Code:
REQUIRE_YASM=NO sh vlc.SlackBuild
as i dont think i had yasm (tbh i dont know what this is). So maybe it had something to do with that. Anyway, after 7 - 10 minutes of compiling I could find no .tgz in my /tmp folder to actually install VLC.

As an aside, I then fired up my ubuntu machine, which has VLC anyway, and tried something like:
Code:
vlc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC5uEe5OzNQ
from the command line, and got 4 or 5 HTTP 404 errors. I tried this with a few youtube links and got the same thing.

I'm not completely heartbroken about me not getting it to work, but thought i'd let you know that I did try use your packages.

Cheers again,

Tom

You don't have to compile my package first... I have it ready for download & install.
