ISA VT8237 Bridge with No ISA Slots? Confused.

It has been my understanding that ISA slots are the larger slots on older motherboards. After much time investigating my kernel and hardware for speedups and bottle necks, I'm stuck on what to make of this.

I know I do not have ISA Slots on my mother board. I have also never enabled ISA Support (Under Bus Options) in my kernel due to my thinking it was directly related to ISA slots. Should ISA Support be enable considering I have an ISA Bridge? Have I overlooked a "bridge' option elsewhere? What is an ISA Bridge, and why is it on a PCI/AGP only motherboard?

Definition: Refers to the Peripheral Bus Controller component of a Pentium chipset, responsible for implementing a PCI-to-ISA bridge function and for managing the ISA bus and all the ports. See also Northbridge.

You may not have pci or isa slots on the mb, but this would also work with the onboard hard drive, ethernet, video controllers and such on your motherboard.
