Is Slackintosh dead?

I've got an older Mac sitting here and I'd like to run Slackintosh on it...but is that project dead? Does anyone know?

I don't think so.

Their Current has seen some updates not too long ago

edit: and distrowatch lists them as an active distro

Hi JamesGT, Welcome to LQ. I took a look at the website and it doesn't look like there is any active development. The next step I would take is emailing the developers.

Good luck. ;-)

I've sent off an email to find out if there will be more development coming.

slackintosh is alive

Slackintosh will survive until all the old ppc processors have been thrown away and there is nothing left to install it on... I have some G4 Xserves running slackintosh 12.1... There are still questions and answers posted to the mailing list: http://www.freelists.org/archives/slackintosh-users/ , so there definitely is an active community; as the developers are all volunteers, I think that it remains a year or two behind the main slackware distro... so it may be a while till there is a 64bit slackintosh 13, which would support G5 processors as well ... but you can build your own kernel and get a 64 bit slackintosh 12.1.
