irda+obex

I would like to check out connecting to a cell phone via a usb dongle. I haven't found anything that seems to relate and thought I'd ask here if anyone has set up to upload/download to their mobile via irda on a desktop box. I am using slack-10.2 with the 2.6.13 kernel. I'm guessing in the first instance I'd need to set up for this in /etc/udev to get the relevant device and need to load module as well.

Any experience or relevant referal to a url would be appreciated.

TIA

I could get my phone to communicate with the computer using a USB irda reciever, but unfortunatly the obex software didn't support it.
This are the pages that helped me:
