ipod shuffle without partitions under linux

Hi folks!
My girlfriend wants to use her ipod with my linux-box.
I'm running slackware 13 and so far all my usb-devices were recognized correctly.
Her ipod is running fine under windows with itunes but i'm not able to mount it on my slackware cause i don't see any partitions.
Afaik, ipods have three partitions (1st firmware, 2nd music and itunes-db, 3rd ... ?).
Do you have any idea why i don't see any partitions?
Here is my dmesg output when plugging in the ipod:
Code:

Thank you in advance.

It needs jailbreak if I'm not wrong. And I probably am....
What I am certain about is that you can upload music to it with the gpod driver, which is included in Slackware by default. Install gtkpod for an interface to do this (let's say from the pre-build package in Slacky).

Install gpod-python if you want to use a iPod plugin for a music player written in Python, like Exaile.

Hey lvshti!
Thanks for your response.
I'm also not sure wether jailbreak is required for the ipod shuffle.
Anyway i already have gtkpod installed and it needs a mountpoint to talk to the ipod and with no visible partitions on the ipod it won't help me in my situation.
Any other ideas?

Run it as root and set a empty directory for a mount point. It should mount the iPod itself.
Not sure about it however. It didn't worked with me simply because it doesn't support that version of the firmware (3.1.2 iPhone OS).

Just got it working. This ipod doesn't have any "partitions". I had to mount /dev/sdb to /mnt/ipod and voila - that's it.
Thanks for your help anyway, lvshti!
