ipod issue

so i finally tried using my ipod with slackware. i have only one weird hiccup.

im using amarok and when i transfer something to it everything works fine... i finish doing what im doing and i disconnect and umount it. when i go to the ipods menu what i transfered is right there. when i click to play it though... nothing happens. no error, no software freeze, no message of any kind.. just nothing. i connected it to the mac and it wouldnt play the new tracks either. plays everything else fine... just not the stuff i transfered with amarok... ive never heard of this before.

anyone even know where i could start looking for info about this?

oh and here is my fstab entry...

Code:
/dev/sdd2	/home/nick/Music/ipod_mount vfat noauto,user,rw,sync,nodev,nosuid,umask=0000 0 0

ahh... real quick update. im playing aroud with it a little bit and i chose to search the ipod for Stale and Orphaned files. everything i transfered is there under both the stale (in the ipod database but cannot find the file) and orphaned (file on the device but not in the database) list.

so it is there... i think im just having issues being able to add things to the database.

anyone have any idea?

I had iPod-troubles on Slackware too, and I'm not the only one, see this thread:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=496597

The short answer seems to be that you need to recompile amarok, after which everything will function correctly (at least, that was what happened in my case ). For your convenience, I've put my own amarok-package (recompiled using the slackbuild distributed with the slackware sources) on the web,

http://www.xs4all.nl/~pjbeers/amarok-1.4.3-i486-5pj.tgz

Let me know if this helps!

Yeah, I can confirm that if you grab the latest amarok (1.4.4) and recompile, everything works great.
