Intel 8260 Wireless-AC Combo card not recognized by Slackware-current

Dear Slackers,

I have a MSI WS72 6QJ laptop running Slackware64-current with 5.4.17 kernel and Plasma5 , but it currently doesn't recognize Intel 8260 Wireless-AC Combo (2x2) card installed on the system.
and the thing is that it did recognize the card when I installed Slackware - it was working fine for the evening, but then I shut down the puter, and the next day poof! wifi no more!

so far I've tried:
# lspci -vv -the card doesn't show up.
# ifconfig -a - doesn't list that there's a wlan0
# dmesg |grep -i wireless - no results
# lspci -vv |grep -i network - no results
# iwconfig - no wireless extensions

I've been having this issue for the past 4 years or so and with different kernels starting 4.2.14 kernel, but it somehow magically fixed itself after I leave this puter alone for a few days, the wifi resurrects itself and was working for short periods of time. I would reinstall The Slack and there's wifi, the few days go by and wifi is gone. I even replaced the card with a newer one, but to no avail.
I'm out of ideas right now.
Please help!

Thank you

To me this sounds more likely that it's a mini pci-e slot issue than anything else. Doubly if changing out to a different card doesn't change the behavior.

Thank. you for your reply.
I'll look into replacing pci-e slot.
