Intel 4965 wireless adapter

Hi,

Intel 4965 wireless adapter.

So far I've found this only works in Ubuntu flavors. Doesn't seem to work in Slackware based distros though it's supposed to I think(?)

This thread is reopened because you chose to mutilate your duplicate http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...dapter-696251/. Please don't do that next time.

Wrt the original post: providing technical details, steps you performed and errors encountered (if any) would be helpful. Do edit your OP if you would like to add any.

Indeed, some detail would be useful to help you with your problem.

I've got the Intel 4965AGN working in Slackware 12.1 and 12.2. All I did was install wicd (in extras on the DVD for 12.2). It did not require any additional setup.

So, the wireless adapter was working in Slackware all that time. You just did not know how to properly configure it without grabbing a GUI configuration tool.
You may want to read http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...ckware:network if you are interested in a Slackware network backgrounder. Sometimes it is undesirable to start X just to configure your network.

I am able to set it up at the command line, but I live in a college town with wireless access everywhere. It is very convenient to be able to scan and connect very quickly.

On my old laptop I did it manually.

Good to hear that :-) In a roaming situation, WICD is an ideal tool.
