hello.i installed slackware -current (which became slackware 13.1) yesterday.when it is announced that it became stable, i reformat my HD and installed it again.after the installation, i encounter a problem with my wireless.whenever i turn on the switch of my wireless, the LED remain orange(before it turn to blue if it is on).i used the same media for installation but now, i cant turn on my wireless card. any idea how to fix it?thanks in advance.
thanks XGizzmo for the reply. The LED turns blue whenever i switch on my wireless, connected to AP or not.even yesterday when i first installed the curent, it turns to blue.but after the reinstall, i wont turn on.any idea?
I'm not sure about Slackware, but most of the other distributions require firmware-iwlwifi(ucode) in addition to the driver, which is already built into kernel. I believe it's true for most intel wireless chips (ipw2200, ipw3945, etc..)
thanks nigerag for the reply.but i did a full install and the package you pointed out is already installed.what i did is just a reinstall and now, it wont turn on.any idea?
Sounds like resource sharing issue, IRQ assignments could be messed up. If your wireless card was turned off during installation, try to run the installation with wireless on.
twice in a row I did a reinstall.the first reinstall is that forgot to turned it on and thats when my wireless start to have a problem.so what i did is that i reinstall with the wireless turned on.but still, my wireless wont turned on after the 2nd reinstall.is there anyway to fix it before i make a reinstall again?thanks in advance.
i reinstall again with my wireless switch turned on.but still, after the installation, my wireless wont turn on.any idea how to fix this?thanks in advance.
