Installing VMware

Hi, i have download file VMware-player-1.0.1-19317.tar.gz
1) I extracted it
2) then cd vmware-player-distrib
3) then perl vmware-install.pl
4) In which directory do you want to install the binary
files?
[/usr/bin] // i just pressed ENTER
5) What is the directory that contains the init directories
(rc0.d/ to
rc6.d/)?

What to do know?

Have a look at http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~jbyrne/vmware.htm. I used it for my install and it worked fine. It describes how to create the system V startup script directories if your system doesn't have them.

I created /etc/vm.d/ and /etc/vm.d/rc0.d/ to /etc/vm.d/rc6.d/ in order to avoid pollution.
