When I try to install I get errors saying that "ld-linux.so.2, libICE.so.6, and libSM.so.6" are missing so I installed glibc-2.3.4-i486-1.tgz which i downloaded from www.slackware.com/pd. But I still can't install because I'm still missing "ld-linux.so.2, libICE.so.6, and libSM.so.6."
Other distros have "ld-linux.so.2, libICE.so.6, libSM.so.6, and more" in glibc but i don't think Slack does. What do I have to do?

are you trying to install an rpm???

Yes, they only offer .rpm. http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ease_id=300224

change it into a slack package then install it:

rpm2tgz <package>.rpm

installpkg <package>.tgz

But could you please explain why i have to convert .rpm to tgz? Do I always have to covert them? This is like my 3rd day w/ Slackware.

you dont *HAVE* to, but it will keep everything cleaner on your slack system. since you have no rpm's on your system (since slack is not an rpm distro) *EVERY* rpm you try to install will give you dependency errors even thought you might have everything on your system (rpm has no way of knowing this). In the end, I would suggest converting all rpm's you want to install to slack packages so everything ends up in /var/log/packages thus simplifying your package management (otherwise you would have to use two entirely different sets of package management tools to administer your system).
