installing slackware (9) on a thinkpas x23

Hello!
I've been trying to install Slackware for som time now.
The problem is, I'm using a USB-floppy. When i insert the bare.i disk everything works fine, but when I'm promted to change disk (to install.1) nothing works, the computer is't even trying to read the disk...

So... what can i do about this?

Regards
Anders

Why don't you just boot of the CDROM? :)

Well... I dont have one :o I was hoping to do a NFS install or mount the iso from my window$ partition... but since i can't even get the thing to boot with usb-floppy well.... (i'm all out of ideas right now :( )

What's your windows? If it is win98/Me, you are lucky. First copy slackware install packages to a directory in win98/Me, then use loadlin to load bare.i (I remember a long time ago, I did this kind of hacking :-) Not sure if it is bare.i. Probably the vmlinuz in bare.i). Then you can install Slack from the vfat partition.

:( win2k... i suppose i could make a 50mb+iso dos partition and boot from that one (could that work?)

I think you don't need a dos partition. Just make a dos bootable floppy disk, copy loadlin.exe and the vmlinuz in bare.i in the floppy. Then boot from the floppy, then type "loadlin vmlinuz" to boot linux. I remember there're probably some parameters for loadlin, e.g., loadlin vmlinuz root=..., but cannot remind it now. You can check the loadlin help message. Good luck!
