Installing multiple pc with the same packages
Is there a way i can use a file witch contains a list of all packages i want to install on my workstations.
I now do the install on every pc and remove and add some packages. What i want is a way to use a file choose that and so that i do not have to go through the package select steps. Thanks for your advice |
Unfortunately No, I do not think this option is available. The difficulty with doing this would be: Suppose the package you specified in your list did not exist in the stock set of packages? In that scenario, what should the installation program do: prompt the user and wait for a response, skip over the package, halt, etc, etc. None of those options are appealing.
You probably would be better off doing either a full install (and removing unneeded packages later) or the custom install. -- J.W. |
There is always a way! :)
I see you are running RH 7.1. If you do an install with only what you want, no removing them afterwards, there will be a file named anaconda-ks.cfg This is a kickstart file that can be used to replay the installation on other machines! You can of course edit the file if you find you forgot to add/remove something in the first install. Check this out and you will be a happy camper! |
