installing compiz-fusion on slackware-current
 

Sorry I have been looking for the past 6 hours trying to figure out how to install compiz-fusion for slackware current. I have been trying to find a decent tutorial or guide on installing it. I checked the faq page at compiz-fusion.com. And tried to check the forums but they aren't loading right now. So any help would be thankful

thats it? if thats it I already have that it downloaded when i updated with slackpkg. so now all i have to do is setup kde to use it right?

KDE uses kwin by default and desktop effects will be enabled automatically if your card and drivers support it.

But yes you can use compiz in it's place.

I'm using compiz-fusion for a long time now, and could say, that installing just compiz packages isn't the best solution. You should search for 3rd party package named fusion-icon - this is a tool, that resides in systray and it enable quicker and easier access for switching between different window managers and window decorators, and handy access to configuration managers of compiz and emerald theme manager.

BTW: current version of compiz is 0.8.2.

Vic1ous: have You installed all necessary packages from http://releases.compiz.org/components/ ?? What You need to proper use of compiz are: ccsm, libcompizconfig, compiz, compiz-bcop, compiz-manager, compizconfig-backend-kconfig (if You use it with KDE, or gconf if You have Gnome, or both even), compizconfig-python, plugins-main and emerald. You can of course install all the rest, but these packages are not crucial for simple use ;)

If yes, You can allways switch the window manager with this commands:

for replacing window manager, and:
for replacing window decorator.
But fusion-icon do it for You - just righ-click on its icon in systray, and choose from menu "Select window manager > Compiz" :)
