At this point my best suggestion would be to remove the package you made from the rpm and download the actual ati driver installer from the website I link below. It has always worked for me, including the box I am using right now.

Don't bother with this guy. He's asked the same question over in my DRI thread.
All he responded was 'done'
So I guess it's 'Done'
I'm washing my hands of it. He obviously wants to have a step-by-step tutorial on installing ATI Radeon cards with Slackware 11. The closest on the web is my DRI thread, and he refuses to read it thru.
I say, let ATI take care of him as long as his attitude remains.

First, check to see if you have agpgart and the proper chipset loaded.
The following command should return 2 things. agpgart and your motherboard AGP chipset.

To find which chipset you need to load :

After that, modprobe the appropriate driver.
If you don't know what module to load, try this command to narrow it down.

ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/char/agp
to see if the modules have been loaded correctly, do

restart X after that and check to see if you get direct render with

glxinfo | grep direct
P.S. If you happen to have a amd64 cpu you might need to turn off CONFIG_IOMMU in kernel 2.6.18. With IOMMU enabled, agpgart will automatically be compile in the kernel. This could cause the fglrx kernel module to fail. agpgart must be compiled as a module.
