Installing a USB webcam

Hi guys

I am running Slackware 9.1 and I am wanting to install my USB webcam, my webcam is made by Creative Labs and the model number of it is PD0040.

Any help on how to do this would be appreciated.

I wish it were as simple as
Code:
$ install_my_webcam
but it's not. It's not too bad, though.

Before you buy any USB device, you can save yourself a lot of grief by visiting the Linux USB Device overview to see if the device you want is supported, and how well it's supported.

You, my friiend, are in luck, though, since your webcam is supported.

Next, if I were you, I'd start with a nice webcam HowTo. It'll step you through the configuraton process and answer most of your questions.

If you have any trouble, please come back and post, though. And if you have no trouble, please post that, too!

I've installed the drivers and Xawtv 3.92 just now and I am glad to say that my webcam is now working.

I followed the instructions from here on how to set my camera up and had no problems at all.

Hi guys... I am running Fedora Core 4. I tried to install the driver ov0511-2.30.tar.bz2 for my Creative PD0040 but failed. I run make and it starts perfectly fine for the first three files, after that error starts appear right after "ovcamchip_core.c". Stating that identifier problem. What should I do?? I tried few hours on this but still can't find the solution.

Help is really appreciated.
