Installing a HP psc 1210 Printer/Scanner

I just got a HP PSC 1210 Printer/Scanner Combo. I went to HP's Linux Driver site (hpoj.sourceforge.net) and downloaded the driver. Everything went fine until I ran the make install. It said that it couldn't find the SysV directory. Sure enough, I went through the troubleshooters and I couldn't find a SysV directory, but I did find the rc.sysvinit file. How do I make this thing work with the rc.SysVinit? I don't really wanna mess around in my system files without knowing what I'm doing. Thanks in advance
